How do I substitute for Temple ISD?
Becoming a Temple ISD Substitute
- Substitute Services hires based on current District Needs.
- Applications are open when the need arises for the district.
- Only complete applications will be considered.
- Qualified applicants will be contacted via email.
- Application Status will not be provided, If you received a confirmation number we received your application.
- Not all applicants qualify.
- Applicants hired are required to work 15 days a semester or 30 days a school year to remain active substitutes
- Active substitutes who resign for any reason must reapply as a new applicant.
Qualified substitute applicants complete the following. You will be contacted by email.

Complete state-mandated fingerprinting process and required personnel documents
Step 3
Qualified applicants will be sent an Invitation to Substitute Orientation. (Attendance to an orientation does not constitute employment.)
Step 4
Attend orientation. Be prepared to provide the following:
- Temple ISD Substitute Handbook (electronic or paper copy)
- Printed and completed personnel documents (I-9, W-4, Statement of Confidentiality, Disclosure of Personal Information, Emergency Contact information)
- Printed Invitation to Substitute Orientation
- Signed Fingerprint Receipt (if you have not been fingerprinted by TEA)
- Original valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card (signed)
- Texas certified applicants (only) are required to provide official Texas certification and official transcript with degree conferred.

Applicant Notification and ID Badge Instructions:
- Set up appointment to have badge made with Receptionist at TISD.
- Bring copy of welcome letter for proof of employment.
